Tuning of neglected, abandoned, or irregularly maintained pianos is quoted after a phone consultation. Repairs are quoted in front of the piano, after a direct assessment.
My first tuning studies were in 1979, in New York, privately, with Carlos Grajales and Patrick Votta. From 1980 to 1982 I studied piano building, tuning, and voicing at the Bösendorfer Klavierfabrik in Vienna, where I learned strict quality standards and service ethic. Afterward I worked in Mexico City: for several years I taught piano tuning and repair at the Escuela Nacional de Música of UNAM, where I was also the maintenance coordinator for the institution's more than 85 pianos. I moved to Germany in 2003, after working in Cuernavaca as a tuner for several years. Since 2005 I've worked as a piano tuner and restorer in Berlin. I serve everyone from punk rock groups to concert halls with the same seriousness and professionalism.
